ABOUT SARAH

Professional Background

Sarah graduated with Honours from The University of Newcastle in 2005. Since then, she has built a broad career across community-based occupational therapy roles in the Newcastle and Hunter region, including senior clinical and management positions.

Her clinical work has focused strongly on home environments, functional assessment, equipment prescription, access, safety, community participation and practical recommendations that support people to do the things they need and want to do in everyday life.

Sarah’s current clinical work centres on community-based assessment, home environments, access and participation. This includes functional capacity assessment, home modifications, assistive technology, driver assessment and practical recommendations across NDIS, aged care, DVA and other funding pathways.

Clinical Approach

Sarah's approach is practical, collaborative and grounded in real-world function.

Assessments consider the person, their environment, their goals, the tasks they need to complete  and the support systems around them.

Recommendations are shaped by what is safe, realistic, and useful within the context of the person's home and community.

Sarah works closely with clients, families, support coordinators, builders, suppliers and healthcare professionals to develop recommendations that are clear, functional and clinically reasoned.

The focus is always on supporting everyday participation, independence, safety and quality of life.

OT Sparks

Alongside clinical practice, Sarah provides supervision and professional development for occupational therapists through OT Sparks.

OT Sparks offers clinical supervision, group supervision, early-career learning, workplace workshops and practical clinical tools for occupational therapists and allied health teams.

This work draws on Sarah’s experience in community-based OT practice, complex decision-making, home modifications, assistive technology and clinical reasoning.

The aim of OT Sparks is to support OTs to feel more confident, considered and practical in their everyday work.
