Assistive technology can support people to complete daily tasks, move more safely, participate in the community and reduce reliance on physical assistance where appropriate.
It includes equipment, devices or products that help a person complete daily activities more safely or independently. This may include simple low-cost items as well as more complex equipment that requires assessment, trial and funding documentation.
A personalised OT assessment helps identify which equipment options best match the person's functional needs, environment, goals and support network.
Where needed, this process may include equipment trials, talking with suppliers, reviewing risks, taking measurements, checking quotes and preparing a written report to support funding applications through the NDIS or other pathways
