GROUP SUPERVISION

What is group supervision?

Group supervision brings together a small community of occupational therapists to share knowledge, reflect on practice, and learn collaboratively. Guided by an experienced facilitator, group supervision creates a safe and structured space where OTs can explore complex cases, develop clinical reasoning, and strengthen professional identity.

Complementing individual supervision, group sessions create opportunities to learn from diverse perspectives, gain practical strategies, and feel connected with peers who face similar challenges in practice

The benefits

Build Confidence in Clinical Practice
Explore complex or uncertain cases in a supportive setting and strengthen your clinical reasoning.

Learn From Peers
Share ideas, approaches, and resources with other OTs working across different settings and caseloads.

Reflect and Grow
Step back from day-to-day demands to reflect on practice, learn from challenges, and celebrate successes.

Enhance Professional Resilience
Reduce feelings of isolation, manage stress, and prevent burnout through shared support and encouragement.

Stay Aligned With Professional Standards
Group supervision supports AHPRA and OT Australia expectations for ongoing reflective practice and professional development.

Cost-Effective and Accessible
A more affordable alternative to individual supervision, while still providing high-value learning and support.

Who is it for?

Group supervision is for occupational therapists at all career stages — from new graduates seeking guidance and mentorship, to experienced OTs looking to refresh their practice, connect with peers, and maintain reflective habits.

OT group supervision at Alike Health

We are excited to offer group supervision through a collaborative partnership with Alike Health. This partnership provides occupational therapists with an opportunity to connect in a supportive, and accessible environment, guided by experienced facilitator Sarah Smith who understand the realities of practice.

Term 4, 2025 Dates:

Friday 17 October -  Reflective OT practice: Making sense of complex cases

Every OT encounters cases that feel challenging, multi-layered, or stuck. This session provides a structured space to step back, reflect, and make sense of complexity in your practice. Through case presentations and group reflection, you’ll strengthen your clinical reasoning, uncover underlying issues beyond the surface challenges, and leave with fresh strategies. Perfect for OTs who want to build confidence, clarity, and reflective skills in tackling their toughest cases.

Friday 14 November - Design Decisions: OT Clinical Reasoning in Home Modifications

Home modifications call for more than just technical know-how — they require structured reasoning, reflection, and creativity. In this session, we’ll explore practical pathways for navigating challenging cases, balancing client goals, safety, and funding requirements. Together, we’ll dig beneath the surface to uncover the person–environment–occupation factors that truly shape clinical decisions and share strategies you can confidently apply in your own practice.

Friday 12 December - Resilient practice: Protecting wellbeing in OT

The end of the year can bring extra demands, both professionally and personally. Caseload pressures, deadlines, and the emotional load of client work can leave OTs feeling stretched thin. This reflective supervision session offers a supportive space to pause, share, and recharge. Together, we’ll explore the challenges of burnout and compassion fatigue, strengthen strategies for resilience, and uncover practical ways to maintain wellbeing. The session is designed to help you finish the year with balance and step into the new year with renewed energy and clarity.

Sessions will run for 10am - 11:30am and are designed to be interactive, practical, and directly relevant to the challenges you face in your work.
